BIO
Coming from a multi-generational musical family, music has always played an enormous role in Alex’s life. At the age of 8, she picked up the electric bass and became particularly hooked on the classic bass lines from songs by artists such as Stevie Wonder, Tower of Power, Weather Report, and Earth, Wind, & Fire. With the help of her father, her first bass teacher, she proceeded to learn these parts note for note. Adding acoustic bass to the equation seemed like the natural next step toward a career in music. She then attended the University of Connecticut, where she received degrees in jazz studies and music education, and was mentored by Kenny Davis.
As an electric & acoustic bassist, Alexandra has worked with a wide variety of artists including Sara Bareilles, Lin-Manuel Miranda, The Killers, Kelly Clarkson, Max Martin, Josh Groban, Renee Fleming, Jojo, Black Thought (Tariq Trotter of The Roots), Brandy, Train, Calum Scott, Lea Michele, Hilary Scott (Lady A), Ross Golan, Cynthia Erivo, Billy Porter, Patti LuPone, Jordin Sparks, Ben Platt, Jamestown Revival, Martha Plimpton, Our Lady J, Duncan Sheik, Here We Go Magic, Ledisi, Meatloaf, Martha Wash, and Kate Nash. She also frequently doubles on cello and vocals, and has recorded on numerous film scores including Chicken Run 2 (Harry Gregson-Williams, Netflix), FUBAR (Tony Morales, Netflix), Emergency (Rene Boscio, Amazon), and Hamilton’s America (Bill Sherman, PBS).
Alex has performed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Today Show, NPR Tiny Desk, as well as in iconic venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, and The Hollywood Bowl. She played on two consecutive national tours for In the Heights and The Book of Mormon. She also originated the bass chair on the Tony Award-winning show, The Band's Visit, and played on the show’s Grammy Award-winning original cast recording. Other Broadway credits include & Juliet, Bat Out of Hell, Black No More, The Wrong Man, and Hamilton. Alex originated the bass chair for the 2024 Best Musical Tony Award-winning and Grammy-nominatedThe Outsiders based on the S.E. Hinton novel & film by Francis Ford Coppola, now playing at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theater.
One of the major highlights in her career was performing in the ensemble which premiered "Quiet Pride", a composition by world-renowned bassist, Rufus Reid, and subsequently studying privately with him.
Alex is also a Music Supervisor, having worked on independent and big-budgeted films, TV series, and documentaries. These include Rebecca Hall’s critically acclaimed directing debut Passing (Netflix) starring Tessa Thompson, Alexander Skarsgard, Ruth Negga and André Holland, Sundance Grand Jury Prize Winner 2023 A Thousand And One starring Teyana Taylor and directed by A.V. Rockwell, Spirited (Apple TV+ 2022) a Christmas musical film starring Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds, with music by Pasek & Paul (The Greatest Showman), and many more.
